yeah like i said, it’s made its way into mainstream but i still can’t really buy the idea that people don’t really know what they’re saying, because the ‘joke’ doesns’t even work without understanding the concept of what it’s mocking
anyway, thanks for trying with your brother
Well funnily enough that’s what happens when you trivialise what PTSD is and make a mockery of what “triggers” actually are. You bastardise the original intent and just end up getting laughed at anyway.
I saw someone put a trigger warning for saying they wanted to pull their hair out.
You’re no damn hero. You guys just look sensitive as shit.
People put trigger warnings on fruit, FRUIT for fucks sake. So if anyone is trivialising PTSD, they started it.
honestly, for fuck’s sake, triggers can be anything. for a start, they’re not all related to PTSD (though they can be), and they’re not used by mental health professionals to solely relate to PTSD either soo
and yes, someone can be triggered by things that might seem ‘silly’ to you. like fruit. for a start, eating disorders exist, so food can be a trigger for them in general. secondly, even if we’re going the PTSD route, you don’t know why they might be triggered by fruit or what fruit had to do with their traumatic event
are you under the impression that triggers are convenient? or that they’re only valid if they’re common? what if certain kinds of fruit trigger a rape victim? does that count?
like jfc when people go ‘LOL THEY’RE TRIGGERED BY FRUIT’ they’re just showing how little they understand triggers… and then whine about people trivialising it
do you just not understand that objects, scents and sounds can bring up memories about related events/bring up negative associations. i.e. fucking TRIGGERS. or are you just ignoring how memory works so you can go LOL FRUIT TRIGGERS
